A new decorative heat-shrink label fi lm developed by France's Sleever Technologies (North American offi ce in Toronto) is said to provide an effective uv barrier while maintaining the transparency of PET bottles. The oriented PS fi lm, called SI-OPS-TF/050-ZB, blocks uv wavelengths up to 370 nm and has high toughness. Target applications include juice and milk bottles. Printed in up to 10 colors back and front, the uv barrier labels can be used on automated sleeving units at speeds of 15,000 to 30,000 bottles/hr. The fi rst commercial applications are 200- and 750-cc bottles for Solo Zumo, a premium orange juice from Pascual in Spain. Tel: (905) 565-0952 www.sleever.com
