A new styrene-acrylic copolymer is scratch resistant and offers low water absorption, which means that drying is often unnecessary. CYRO MCR-600 from CYRO Industries, Rockaway, N.J., reportedly maintains high clarity through repeated dishwasher cycles. In tests of 20 dishwasher cycles, the material reportedly performed competitively with polycarbonate, SAN, and other styrene-acrylic copolymers in terms of clarity retention and resistance to crazing. Applications include housewares, bath accessories, drafting instruments, office accessories, and cosmetic packaging.
