Tornos’ Almac FB 1005 CNC horizontal bar milling machine is capable of machining on as many as six axes with 19 live spindles. The machine is said to deliver repeatability of 0.002 µm and chip-to-chip times of 2.5 sec. It is suitable for high production runs and small batch, just-in-time manufacturing of medical and dental parts, optical instruments, connectors, electronics and more.
The machine is designed for precise milling on a variety of materials including hard steels and noble metals. According to the company, the CNC is designed to be easy to use, and the machine’s modular design and full B-axis control increase flexibility.
Options include high-speed spindles, an oil mist extractor, a heating cycle, tool breakage detection, coolant temperature control and a tool presetting probe. To enhance capability, a new dividing head enables the FB 1005 to perform turning operations.
