WEB EXCLUSIVE: New Topas 9903D-10 COC (cyclic olefin copolymer) boasts a lower glass-transition temperature (Tg) of 33 C/92 F for use in monolayer and coextruded films. The low Tg allows for low-temperature sealing in stand-up pouches and low-temperature shrinkage in shrink films and labels. This product from Topas Advanced Polymers, Inc., Florence, Ky., can be blended with polyolefins such as ULDPE at levels of 5% to 50% to improve stiffness and low-temperature shrinkage. It has an MFI of 0.9 and tensile modulus of 100,000 psi, which increases when oriented.
