Several new standardized components that can save time and expense in moldmaking were introduced recently by Progressive Components International Corp., Wauconda, Ill. The firm recently purchased the assets of Roehr Tool Corp., Hudson, Mass., said to have originated collapsible cores back in 1965. Progressive will offer Roehr's line of pre-engineered collapsible C-Cores as its new RT series and is also introducing the GZ series, which is shorter than other collapsible cores-an advantage in stack and spinning-cube molds with height or orientation limitations. Progressive also introduced roller pullers that control the opening sequence of parting lines in a three-plate or stripper-plate mold. They can pull or retain double ejector plates or retain any other floating mold plate. No external grease is required. Pulling force can be adjusted up to 2.5 times the original setting via a sight window on the spring. In addition, the company rolled out new keyed ejectors, puller pins, and bushings as off-the-shelf standard components. Keyed ejector pins can be used with contoured surfaces or details like a number or logo. Flat, precision-ground heads need no machining. Puller pins and bushings are suited to three-plate molds to hold the sprue gate in place for proper orientation of the sprue and for runner removal. Pins are heat treated for durability. Progressive's new RF series of date stamp and ID inserts remain flush during operation while enabling installation of the date ring from the parting line. Also new is the AM/NZ series to meet updated automotive standards. A new raised-lettering series allows for a smooth part surface. And new multi-daters that eliminate annual replacement are available in two styles and five sizes. Tel: (847) 487-1000 . www.procomps.com
