After an absence of 15 years, Conair is back in the field of downstream equipment for large pipe and wide profiles like fence and spa panels. During that time, Conair sourced downstream equipment for large extruded products from Michigan Plastics Machinery (MPM) in Kawkawlin, Mich., which focused on that market. Conair has now acquired MPM and formed Conair Extrusion, a new unit for specialty downstream equipment. In collaboration with Conair, MPM recently completed its most complex cooling system to date: It's 32 ft long and includes three vacuum tanks, two 8-ft and one 12-ft, each with an independent pump that can draw 28 in. of vacuum. The tanks are plumbed for inter-connectability in case one pump fails. Each tank is individually temperature controlled and insulated and capable of flood or spray cooling. The system is for cooling 14-in.-wide, imitationwood foamed-PS spa panels with an acrylic cap layer. Tel: (412) 3126000 . www.conairgroup.com
