A newly patented process is said to bundle high loadings of colorants and additives in concentrates at levels not previously achievable. New G2 technology from Carolina Color Corp., Salisbury, N.C., is said to achieve an industry goal of making “super concentrates” that have not previously been possible. Says company president Matt Barr, “G2 has overcome processing challenges with a proven ability to provide exceptionally effective dispersion and distribution in both large and small parts.” The new G2 product line is claimed to save 15% to 30% in color cost and allow processing at lower temperatures, which can save 5% to 10% in cycle time. Barr also cites faster incorporation, which reduces flow lines and streaking in large parts and also offers potential for lightweighting of parts due to improved physical properties. According to Barr, users get superior color quality with G2 pellets at the cost of liquid color, traditionally the lowest cost colorant option. (704) 637-7000 • www.carolinacolor.com
