Two new grades of crosslinked PE, one for XLPE electrical cable and one for under-floor heating pipe, are newly available to the North American market from Borealis Compounds LLC, Port Murray, N.J. LC8205 XLPE copolymer is the newest of Borealis' Supercure cable compounds. This medium-voltage insulation material is said to be the first of its kind to combine tree-retardant properties with faster crosslinking. BorPex XLPE compound is designed to produce tough and flexible hot-water pipe for sub-surface heating systems. This material was used by German processor Rehau for under-field heating in eight stadiums that hosted the 2006 world soccer championships.
