The new Rewind Management System from ISRA Vision System, Duluth, Ga., maps and displays locations of specks, gels and other defects in a roll of film. The system was developed last year in partnership with a major film processor and will become commercially available in March. Rewind Management works with ISRA's camera-based film inspection system to grade a roll of film for quality, mark the film edges where defects are detected, display the location of film defects, and then optimize the slitting configuration to remove them. A processor can then decide whether it makes better economic sense to sell a film roll as off-grade or to upgrade it by removing defects. Printed edge marks on the film let the system track defects in a roll even when the length of the roll is altered. Tel: (770) 449-7776 . www.isravision. com
