Inspired by the disposable silicone-rubber sleeves used to cover rollers that handle webs after corona treatment, Jemmco LLC in Mequon, Wis.,developed disposable TPE sleeves as a less expensive alternative to rubber-covered rollers, which also require time and labor for cleaning. The sleeve is stretched over existing idler rolls using a compressed-air jet to inflate the sleeve so that it is easier to slip on. The sleeve removes airborne contaminants from plastic webs. It can also be used to give traction in blown film collapsing frames and to prevent scratching of high-clarity films. The sleeves come in a half-dozen sizes for rollers from 1.5 to 6 in. diam. and up to 10 meters long. Tel: (414) 267-3911 • www.jemmco.com
