A new 8-ton all-electric, verticalclamp, vertical-injection press has a two-station rotary table built for insert molding of small LSR parts. The new LMG Micro-molder from Lawton Machinery Group (LMG), De Pere, Wis., has a plunger injection unit that can be fed from a standard LSR mixing/metering system or from 12-oz cartridges. The metering block has two pneumatic cylinders that push the material through a static mixer and into the electric-driven injection cylinder. The cylinder fills to a set position at a set backpressure to ensure the proper shot size. LMG offers three injection units that deliver shot sizes from 3 cc to 20 cc. Process parameters are entered through a menu-driven color touchscreen. The control system also features process monitoring, alarm displays, and setup recipes for several molds.
