A new front/back bottle labeler has an energy-saving feature for 5-gal containers that require a 12-min cool-down before labeling. The Brute 3550 from Hunkar Packaging Inc., Cincinnati, handles up to 8.5-in.-wide labels. To save energy, all moving parts stop at the end of a labeling cycle. As a container enters the unit, a sensor triggers a pneumatic cylinder that pushes the container forward to contact the side drives, which pull it through. Timed signals trigger two other pushers, one at the 90° bend and the other at the container entry. The side drives are inactive until the start signal, and the applicator stepper motors draw lower power while waiting to apply the next label. (800) 238-9700 • www.hunkar.com
