Japan Steel Works (represented by JSW Plastics Machinery Inc., Elk Grove Village, Ill.) has upgraded its all-electric presses for precision lenses, which were shown at the IPF show in Tokyo last fall. The 39-ton model J35AD-LS-15H at the show (also offered in 59 tons) had new closed-loop melt-pressure control that uses a load cell on the ballscrew and sensors in the injection nozzle and mold cavity. Platen parallelism is said to be enhanced with the use of linear guides under the moving platen. Also new was vacuum degassing to improve lens quality. (847) 427-1100 • www.jswpmi.com
