SML rolled out three new products at its Innovation Days 2012 open house, held late last year at its headquarters in Austria (U.S. office in Ft. Gibson, Okla.):
•A sheet line for recycled PET features a conical twin-screw extruder and a new drying and flake- treatment system using infrared radiation inside a vacuum vessel. Apart from drying and crystallization, this system reportedly can increase the IV of low-quality post-consumer PET bottle flakes.
•A versatile cast film line with an integrated MDO unit for processing polyolefin and polyester films with or without barrier layers, either unoriented or mono-oriented. The line had a winder with full in-line slitting capabilities that was designed for large roll diameters, scrap-free roll transfers, and ability to reverse winding directions.
•The TOPsheet line (pictured), a cast film line for producing vacuum-perforated aperture film, which is used as the skin-touching inside layer in adult diapers and feminine-care products.
