Designed for medical tubing, the Modular Micro Extruder from American Kuhne, Ashaway, R.I.,
provides the versatility to quickly and easily change barrel and screw diameters and feed-section configurations. Short residence times on small extruders help minimize resin thermal degradation relative to larger extruders running at very low rpm.
The extruders are available in 12, 16, and 19 mm diam. Very low output rates, down to 125 g/hr, can be achieved with standard pellets and granules. Complete micro extrusion systems are available for tight-tolerance single- and multi-layer tubing, fine wire jacketing, and filaments.
The extruder can be integrated with the company’s AKcess touchscreen control systems, AK-u-Tube spiral-flow crossheads, AK-u-Cool precision cooling tanks, and AK-u-Pull combination servo puller/cutter controls.
