The new EcoCompact stretch-film line from SML in Austria (U.S. office in Kennesaw, Ga.) has a footprint of just 460 sq ft, nearly half the space requirement of standard stretch-fi lm lines, but still reportedly offers comparable outputs. The line is also said to feature low energy consumption, durability, and stable production.
Four-up EcoCompact lines are available in net widths of 6.5 ft and 3- or 5-layer configurations. The W4000 winder with automatic core magazine is suitable for both machine and mother rolls weighing up to 132 lb. EcoCompact lines have a net production capacity of around 2650 lb/hr and run at speeds above 1960 ft/min.
In a related development, Torninova Corp. in Italy (U.S. office in Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) will display at K 2010 its Compact Stretch line (pictured) making coextruded film in 3-ft widths at a net output above 1500 lb/hr (guaranteed) at speeds up to 2625 ft/min. The machine is designed to offer the best performance on thin layers at a footprint of less than 180 sq ft.
