Fabricators of fiberglass-composite bathtubs and shower units reportedly will see a marked improvement in output and consistency with the new Binks Boss pump from ITW Industrial Finishing, Glendale Heights, Ill. The new pump is said to provide faster dispensing and longer continuous operation than any other pump on the market. In particular, the Boss pump is built to last longer than previous pumps in high-volume dispensing of filled polyester resins. The pump is rated at 5 gpm at 20 cycles/min, with a maximum output of 15 gpm. Standard two-component pumps typically put out 2 to 4 gpm, Binks notes. In a test at one plant, the pump ran continuously over eight months without requiring downtime. According to Binks, pumps usually require repairs every three to four weeks in similar operations.
