A new fully fluorinated liquid silicone rubber from Dow Corning, Midland, Mich., combines the easy processing of LSR and the high temperature and fuel resistance of fluorosilicone rubber (FSR). Silastic 100% F-LSR is a two-part injection moldable elastomer for automotive engine components. Available in 30 and 40 Shore A hardness, the material withstands temperatures from -60 C to 220 C (-76 to 428 F) and is resistant to aggressive fuels, chemicals, lubricants, and oils. It is easier to mix and process than high-consistency FSRs and can be processed at lower temperatures than standard Silastic LSR. Overmolding is possible on thin, high-precision, intricate parts with close tolerances. (See p. 75 for another new fully fluorinated LSR.) (989) 496-6000 • www.dowcorning.com
