If you’ve ever had trouble getting your money’s worth of resin out of the bottom of a Gaylord box, a new device is said to solve that problem without wasting operator time or need for a cumbersome box tilter. The Sweeper from Maguire Products, Inc., Aston, Pa., uses a short, slotted vacuum pickup wand on the end of a flexible hose, as well as a clear plastic sweeping device. Both are mounted on the end of a rotating tube driven by a 1-rpm gear motor. As the tube rotates, the sweeper drags over the top of the pellets like a sled through snow, driving pellets from the center of the box to the sides. The slotted wand then sucks up pellets along the sides of the box and reaches into every corner. Above the pickup and sweeping devices is a set of vertical rails on which a counterbalanced trolley can move down to follow the level of the pellets, ultimately leaving less than a handful of pellets in the box, according to Maguire. An automatic vacuum switch runs the Sweeper only when the loading system is calling for material. The steel stand allows access to a forklift or pallet truck. (610) 459-4300 • www.maguire.com
