A new servo puller from Conair, Pittsburgh, is said to be the only puller for medical bump tubing that has individual position-controlled servo motors on both upper and lower belts. This reportedly gives the Medline puller much more precise control of acceleration and deceleration to form tapers, bubbles, and bumps in medical tubes. Individual direct-drive motors with a planetary gear reducer are used on both belts. Tiny medical pullers typically have a motor drive on only one tractor with belts to move the other tractor. The Medline puller also has a herringbone pattern instead of a crown or "V" shape on upper and lower belts and pulleys to eliminate skidding or slipping. Conair showed the puller for the first time at the NPE show in June, even before it had been proven out in trials. It has since been qualified and the first unit delivered. A second puller is on order.
