New Faradex EMI/RFI shielding compounds are said to deliver greater EMI protection for electronics without requiring additional stainless-steel fiber. Modulus is also increased by more than a third, according to supplier SABIC Innovative Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass. Proprietary filler technology reportedly improves the shielding capacity of existing steel-fiber loadings. The five new compounds are based on PC/ABS alloys. They include three grades with non-halogen flame retardants that comply with the EU’s WEEE and RoHS directives and two non-FR grades with higher impact. Compounds based on other resins are also available. Targeted applications include automotive, consumer electronics, and telecommunications. (610) 363-4500 • www.sabic-ip.com
