Gravimetric Blenders for Medium-Volume Needs

Two new models of BD series batch weigh blenders have been introduced by AEC Inc., Wood Dale, Ill.

Two new models of BD series batch weigh blenders have been introduced by AEC Inc., Wood Dale, Ill. The new models supplement the large BD 2500 model introduced at NPE 2003. It handles up to eight components at a total of 100 to 2500 lb/hr. The new BD 500 and BD 900 models handle up to six components at 10 to 500 lb/hr and 10 to 900 lb/hr, respectively. Like the larger unit, they have Allen-Bradley PLCs with touchscreen interfaces and three modes of recipe entry. They also have a special mix-chamber design that’s said to give uniform blend quality, as well as an exclusive diamond slide-gate metering assembly that can meter any free-flowing pellet material at 0.5% to 100% of the recipe weight. Unlike the first model, the new sizes have a square regrind gate that is said to aid flow of material by providing a larger opening.
