An unusual new rotary scrap grinder from Hellweg Maschinenbau GmbH in Roetgen, Germany, has a rotor believed to be the only one in the world cut out of one piece of steel, including the teeth. It has four rotors arranged in pairs, with teeth spaced 8 mm apart around the 150-mm-diam rotor. The extra-strong, one-piece construction and a proprietary tooth shape allow the unit to feed and grind difficult profiles like edge trim from dimpled or thermoformed sheet. The Model LSZ is available here from C.W. Brabender Instruments, Inc., Hackensack, N.J. The low-speed edge-strip grinder comes in three sizes with openings 120, 200, and 300 mm wide.
