A family of patented HDPE resins for automotive fuel tanks boasts enhanced resistance to bio-diesel fuels. Developed by Basell Polyolefins (soon to become LyondellBasell Industries), Wilmington, Del., this is the latest addition to the company's Lupolen line of HDPE resins produced with the company's Spherilene technology. These resins are being launched initially in Europe in this first quarter. Test data reportedly show a dramatic increase in chemical resistance to bio-diesel fuels compared with current HDPE. Moreover, the new grades are said to offer the good processability and the outstanding ESCR and tensile properties of industry workhorse Lupolen 4261A IM. (302) 683-8000 . www.basell.com
