An HMW-HDPE copolymer with established use in Japanese auto fuel tanks is now available here from Ineos Olefins & Polymers USA, League City, Texas. Ineos O&P has an exclusive license from Japan Polyethylene Corp. to produce and market Novatec HB111R for Japanese "transplant" auto-parts suppliers in North America. The material is designed for continuous coextrusion of multilayered fuel tanks. It reportedly combines excellent processability with outstanding ESCR and impact properties. Its high melt strength and narrow MI range are also said to deliver excellent process stability and durability. Ineos (which purchased BP's Innovene subsidiary in December) will produce HB111R in LaPorte, Texas.
