A new hot-runner temperature controller was introduced at NPE in Chicago by Plastic Engineering & Technical Services (P.E.T.S.), Auburn Hills, Mich. The Space Saving Module Control (SSMC) 951 comes in multiples of 12 zones up to 60, but is the same size regardless of the number of zones. It measures temperatures 64 times/millisec and makes adjustments every 3 sec. It can be set up and monitored remotely via the internet. It has a warm-up cycle, automatic shutoff when the system finds shorted or incorrectly wired thermocouples, and automatic internal switching to maintain operations when the unit detects a reversed thermocouple.
