SINGLE Temperature Controls (Charlotte, N.C.) has developed a line of hot-water temperature control systems for temperatures up to 437°F/245°C for the production of composite components. SINGLE notes that precise temperature control of molds with a heat transfer media that has high thermal stability and transfer rates (e.g., pressurised water) provides a stable manufacturing environment for a variety of thermoset and thermoplastic materials. For thermoplastic composites that require shortened cycle times can benefit from the ATT (Alternating Temperature Technology) unit, which allows for rapid heating and cooling in one machine. ATT switches between two circuits with cooling fluid of different temperatures and actively heats or cools the mold. Units can be attached directly to existing ported platen or ported molds.
