New UMIB injection-blow machines from Uniloy Milacron Inc., Tecumseh, Mich., target high-precision bottles with tamper-evident or child-resistant closures for medical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics uses. The machines are designed for sterile, clean-room applications. Six different models with clamp force from 39 to 180 tons and shot sizes from 5 to 105 cu in. produce bottles from 2 cc to 2 liters. Features include a magnetic clamping system for the lower die set, carbon-filtered blowing air, stainless-steel core rods, electric parts extraction, and a mold area and conveyor enclosed with a pressurized, laminar flow of HEPAfiltered air. The nickel-plated mold area eliminates the chance of paint contamination and allows steam sterilization. The triangle-shaped head has a set of core rods on each face that rotate 120° with each cycle to position the rods for successive steps. Interchangeable heads allow a variety of bottle sizes and shapes. Tel: (517) 4248756 . www.uniloy.com
