Gluco, Inc., Jenison, Mich., is introducing to the U.S. the Supermaster line of large two-platen machines from Chen Hsong in Hong Kong. These are said to be the first “true” two-platen large presses built in China (some others labeled “two-platen” reportedly have a small third platen). The line ranges from 2200 to 6500 tons. Besides short footprint and large daylight capacity, these are said to be have the fastest clamping speeds in their size range—750 mm/sec. Digital closed-loop, variable-displacement pumps are said to be 50-70% more energy efficient than conventional fixed pumps.
The platens ride on linear bearings for “outstanding” platen parallelism and an oil-free molding area. The exclusive, patented circular platen is said to offer more uniform stress distribution to extend mold life and meets SPI mounting-hole specs. The large operator screen interfaces with Beckhoff controls.
