Ube Machinery Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich., is complementing its large all-electric machines with the new Servomax line of servo-hydraulic machines, now being introduced to the U.S. These energy-efficient models use servomotor-driven gear pumps to provide hydraulic power with closed-loop pressure and flow on all axes. They come in sizes of 1000 to 2500 U.S. tons and are said to use only 30% as much energy as standard hydraulic machines. They also boast superior repeatability and dry-cycle times as short as 4 sec for the 1000-tonner.
