Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., Bolton, Ont., has launched a new generation of its HyCAP hybrid electric/hydraulic molding system for high output of beverage closures. The upgraded system reportedly offers faster cycle times, improved energy utilization, and closer integration with Husky’s new KTW closure molds. The all-new screw design offers improved plasticating rates while allowing lower melt temperatures, thus saving both energy and cycle time. Powerpack upgrades also contribute to faster cycles.
In order to fully leverage the recent acquisition of closure moldmaker KTW, the new HyCAP version is optimized to integrate with KTW closure molds. The new system also allows better cooperation between the machine and hot runner through adaptive carriage control to maximize gate quality and consistency. Husky’s new Altanium color-change interface, said to enable significantly faster changeovers and lower scrap, is now standard. Also new are SmartStart and SmartStop control features. SmartStart automates startup procedures, while Smart-Stop allows for automatic production stoppages and faster restart following cycle interruptions.
