Synventive Molding Solutions, Peabody, Mass., has introduced SynFlow two-speed pin control for cascade or sequential valve-gating. It’s said to allow for better surface appearance in large parts. The pin’s initial opening speed is reduced to prevent an explosive rush of plastic, then the pin opens for the remainder of its stroke at maximum speed to fill the part. This reportedly can prevent “hesitation marks,” blemishes opposite direct gating, sink marks after coating, and reduced adhesion of finishes. The system controls up to eight zones and has a hydraulic valve block to actuate the pins.
