The new electric Integralpicker V from Arburg, Inc., Newington, Conn., is said to be a low-cost but very fast and repeatable sprue picker. Its three axes (horizontal, vertical, and rotary) can be actuated simultaneously. The vertical (mold-entry) axis achieves speed of 2 m/sec and acceleration of 2 m/sec2. Rotary motion keeps the mold fully accessible for servicing. Also the picker is fully integrated into Arburg’s Selogica machine controller. Interactive “teach” function allows fast, menu-guided setup with no detailed knowledge of the control system.
