The world’s first system capable of simultaneously inspecting both surface quality of cable coatings and the accuracy and quality of printing on the cable was introduced at the recent K 2007 show in Dusseldorf. Pixargus GmbH in Germany (U.S. office in Charlotte, N.C.), a spinoff from the RWTH Technical Univ. in Aachen, introduced its ProfilControl PC5-Cable, which has an LED light source for the CCD camera system. The system requires four cameras, which can inspect round and flat cables regardless of resin type or color. A similar inspection system is offered for medical tubing.
