A new chocolate brown mineral pigment from Shepherd Color Co., Cincinnati, reflects infrared and thereby allows dark-colored plastics to minimize heat buildup when exposed to sunlight. It is said to be more IR reflective than other dark brown pigments. Arctic Brown 10P895 is an iron chromium brown hematite (C.I. Pigment Brown 29) that reportedly meets numerous U.S. and European environmental and safety regulations covering packaging, food contact, recycling, and toys (including CONEG and RoHS).
