Advanced size-reduction technology is said to mill plastics previously considered ungrindable. This high-intensity jet-milling process is newly available as a service from LiquaJet LLC, a new custom toll-processing unit of The Jet Pulverizing Co., Moorestown, N.J. With this technology, polymers that otherwise could be ground no finer than 100 to 200 microns (average) now can be milled to less than 30-micron average size. Significantly improved results are said to have been achieved in milling nylon 6, PMMA, and polycaprolactone. The company uses the patented Micron-Master jet pulverizer— which the firm also offers for sale—said to offer instant micronization with no heat generation, no moving parts, and no contamination.
