A combined die and reservoir system in the new Model 2030 tooling system from Guill Tool, W. Warwick, R.I., is said to provide more consistent material flow in large-diameter PE pipe for marine and other applications. The tooling is suited to pipe of 4 to 20 in. diam.
The tool is designed using Guill’s flow-analysis software. In the die, melt is shaped long before it reaches the tip. A cart mounted on a track permits the die to be tilted on the fly to counteract material sagging as it leaves the tool. One person can disassemble, clean, and reassemble the system.
