A new liquid crystal polymer (LCP) offers a higher operating temperature and greater fl owability for connector and lead-free surface-mount applications. Vectra LCP S135 from Ticona, Florence, Ky., has an HDT of 335 C (635 F) at 264 psi, improved weld-line strength, and reduced viscosity that allows fi lling of walls as thin as 0.2 mm. The material can be molded at tool temperatures below 93 C (200 F), which allows for water-cooled molds rather than oil for reduced cycle times. Other high-temperature offerings in the future will provide improved fl atness and the ability to fi ll walls less than 0.2 mm thick at low pressures. Tel: (800) 833-4882 . www.ticona.com
