New capacitive hopper level sensors from Turck in Minneapolis are designed specifically for plastics. In particular, they are said to have excellent EMC/EMI and ESD immunity so that they resist environmental interference. New BCC sensors are mounted on a plastic sight glass or in the hopper. Standard capacitive sensors are said to be prone to failure because of static discharges that are frequent occurrences in pellet storage and handling systems.
