A new linear reheat stretch-blow machine from Siapi S.r.l, San Vendemiano, Italy, produces 6000 to 20,000 PET bottles/hr. That output is claimed to be 15% to 20% above current rates for linear stretch-blow machines. Siapi's new servo-controlled EA series, now available to U.S. processors, features a novel preform heating system that significantly reduces energy use and lowers machine footprint, Siapi says. The new infrared heating system, developed in conjunction with Germany's Adphos, boasts 0.8- to 1.5-micron wavelength range, which is lower than typical infrared systems and better matches PET's heating requirements, says North American sales manager Marco Bottecchia. A specially designed frame also optimizes lamp performance. The new machine can run four to 14 cavities for bottles up to 2.5L with neck finishes up to 38 mm.
