At the K 2007 show in Germany, Pittsburgh-based Conair introduced a simple, affordable vacuum-loading controller in two versions. The ELC-M is for self-contained loaders and the ELC-16 is for single-pump central systems with up to 16 receivers. Two standard control functions-on/off and load-time adjustments-are operated by pushbuttons on the touchpanel. The units are "language-neutral"-markings are only in numerals and icons. Expanded functions are available with the optional ControlMate pendant (see photo), which allows users to access higher-level functions and change settings that need less frequent adjustment, such as dump time, number of load attempts before alarm, number of ratio layers, ratio percent, purge time, priority demand, and "load & hold" for use with a weigh hopper. The pendant uses optical input so that it is static-resistant. (412) 312-6000 . www.conairgroup.com
