An economical process-monitoring system tailored specifically for automated reject containment is one of several new products from RJG, Inc., Traverse City, Mich. New eDARTflx (pictured) costs 45% less than a full eDART monitoring system. It uses cavity-pressure sensors to detect process variations that could produce abnormal parts. Process limits can be set for three-way sorting of good, bad, and suspect parts. Also new is the Lynx Quad temperature module, which acts as a multi-channel interface between thermocouples on a mold, machine, or auxiliary equipment and an eDART monitoring system. RJG also came out with the Lynx mold-mount piezo adapter, which is an interface between all major brands of piezoelectric cavity-pressure sensors. Because it mounts on the mold, it avoids costly extension cables and protects against connector contamination--a major source of problems with piezo sensors.
