A simplified line of hot-runner nozzles that helps trim costs up to 40% is new from Profine Molds Inc., Oakville, Ont. The cost savings reportedly come when the nozzles are combined with a manifold and mold from Profine. Its new front-mounted proRunner nozzles consist of four interchangeable parts—nozzle body, gate body, flange, and heater—plus a thermocouple and set screw to lock the flange against the nozzle body. Nozzles handle up to 50-g shots. The hot-tip gate body is made of beryllium copper with a fused carbide tip. The nozzle body is coated to protect against abrasion and corrosion. Multi-tip edge gates can mold up to 16 micro-parts per nozzle. Standard X, Y, or H manifolds have up to 24 drops and 240V removable heaters. Systems can have up to 128 drops.
