The MACO OptiPak II controller from Eurotherm is a fully featured, dedicated, application specific, programmable logic controller that provides the appropriate IO required for most typical injection applications and offers many of the same software functions as Eurotherm’s MACO Compact.
The controller uses a tightly integrated multiple processing architecture, including DSP technology that provides sub 1-msec loops, with typical ladder logic execution of less than 0.5 msec. High-performance Ethernet communication is provided for interfacing with the HMI or other devices.
The controller also features built-in diagnostics and process monitoring for multiple shots, shot-to-shot repeatability, data storage, reference/signature shot and snapshot functions. Additionally, online RLD diagnostics allow troubleshooting logic and machine operation with web-browsing capability via the internet.
The standard controller provides a total of 56 digital outputs (up to forty 24Vdc 2 amp outputs at 50% duty cycle rating) and forty 24 Vdc digital inputs. In addition, six analog inputs and four analog outputs, both with 16 bit resolution are available for interfacing with positioning and pressure sensors and valves.
For larger applications, the system may be specified with 12 temperature loops, versus the standard eight, along with 64 digital outputs and 48 digital inputs. Control data can be viewed on Eurotherm’s new line of flexible high-speed Windows CE based TFT displays. Recipes, SPC data, screen captures and logging functions can be stored and loaded from various memory devices. The control is also compatible with our family of OPtima Plus PC based operator stations based on our Wonderware InTouch applications and plant wide integration capabilities.
