WEB EXCLUSIVE Remote real-time monitoring of up to 24 injection presses from any internet-enabled device is a new capability from Toshiba Machine Corp., Elk Grove Village, Ill. The company’s iPAQET remote monitoring system is designed to monitor up to two dozen Toshiba machines equipped with the company’s V10, V21, or V30 controllers. The system consists of a server, iPAQET software, and an Ethernet card. The remote device (laptop, PDA, or cellphone) requires a Windows operating system with the iPAQET client software. The system was demonstrated in January during the Plastec West show in Anaheim, Calif., with an EC65NII 65-ton all-electric press and a technician working from Toshiba’s newly opened service center in Plain City, Ohio. Toshiba also announced that the ECNII machine at the show was the first to feature a more advanced electric interlock and additional guarding required to meet the latest ANSI B151 2007 safety standard, which became a U.S. standard in February.
