Resin producers and high-volume compounding operations are the targets for a new smaller model of the Smart Flow Meter from K-Tron Feeder Group, Pitman, N.J. Model SFM 275A handles flows of pellets, chips, or fibers at 180 to 2100 cu ft/hr. Outfitted with a slide gate, rotary valve, or auger, it can be used as a feeder, meter, batcher, or totalizer. The SFM measures true mass flow using K-Tron’s Smart Force Transducers to measure mass and velocity. It has no moving parts directly exposed to the material, no interruption of flow, little or no field calibration, and low maintenance, K-Tron claims. Accuracy is said to be better than ±0.5% or 1%, depending on application.
