A new TPU formulation from NEU Specialty Engineered Materials, North Haven, Conn., a subsidiary of PolyOne Corp., is said to yield catheters that are optically translucent and radiopaque—give superior contrast under x-rays.
Patent-pending NEU View Radiopaque Translucent Solutions reportedly bring together the performance of optically opaque catheters, which give excellent x-ray contrast, and the optical clarity of the translucent catheters made with radiopaque striping. This technology eliminates the coextrusion process used to make the striped catheters.
