Two new polypropylene random copolymers are said to give housewares a dramatically brighter and cleaner look, thanks to Millad NX8000 clarifi er from Milliken Chemical, Spartanburg, S.C. New PP3 grades from Pinnacle Polymers LLC, also of Spartanburg, achieve a very low yellowness index of -15, compared with -2.5 typical of clarified PP. The new grades also reportedly mold up to 26% faster and at up to 22% lower temperatures than standard PP. The two new grades, FDA approved for food contact, are Pinnacle 5155C3 (55 MFR) and 5135C3 (35 MFR).
