WEB EXCLUSIVE: A clear, flexible resin that’s biodegradable and has a high content of renewable resources has been introduced for blown film by FKuR of Germany (U.S. office in Cedar Park, Tex.). Its new Bio-Flex F 2201 CL is a blend of PLA biopolymer and a biodegradable copolyester. This tough, flexible grade is recommended for coextrusion as the middle layer between two skins of Bio-Flex A 4100 CL, a clear but much stiffer PLA blend. Together, they can provide a film that has 60% to 80% renewable material and very high clarity for a biodegradable film—close to 91% light transmission for a 20-micron film.
