WEB EXCLUSIVE: Total Refining & Chemicals’ Polymers Div. in Belgium (parent of Total Petrochemicals in Houston), has introduced a new HDPE with 0.962 density and low viscosity (MI2 of 2.1 g/10min) compared with standard HDPE bottle grades for fresh and long-life milk bottles. Grade HD 6221 is said to show outstanding processability on high-throughput blow molding machines. The material also combines high stiffness with excellent impact resistance for very thin-walled bottles. It also boasts excellent organoleptic properties, thermal stability, excellent surface quality, and batch-to-batch consistency.
